Special Day for She's the First!

Every day, She’s the First follows blogs, Facebook fan pages, and Twitter feeds of insiders and innovators in the non-profit sector. Today, we received special recognition from three of our favorites! If you missed our announcements in your News Feed, the links are saved here and will be added to our Press page soon!

  1. Thank you, Shatterbox! We're the First Make Your Mark Award Winner!

Thank you, Shatterbox for naming She's the First the first Make Your Mark Award Winner!

First, we are honored to receive the first Make Your Mark Award from Shatterbox, a video-based web site of innovation!

Amanda Holt founded Shatterbox last year, and we’re thrilled to meet her next week in person, because we admire what she does. Her site enables young trailblazers to achieve their vision by presenting them with high quality videos of success stories, like Emily Dubner, the founder of Baking for Good, Viktoria Harrison, design director of charity : water, and business coach Marie Forleo. Shatterbox’s mission: Find the most passionate, cutting-edge young trailblazers out there and ask them on camera to simply share their stories, so YOU can make your mark. Here is the official announcement! Thank you to She’s the First team, all She’s the First fans and fundraisers, programs in our network, and Alison Hoffer for introducing us to Shatterbox’s site! This is a shared achievement — leave your celebratory comments below!

  2. Thanks for supporting us, Goodness500!

Thanks for supporting us, Goodness500! We recommend you read this blog and follow on Twitter/Facebook!

Second, the Goodness500 interviewed us for its blog, which is an idea lab for dreamers who are doers. Check out the interview here! The founder Michael  Mossoba will be attending GIRLS WHO ROCK in New York City on Thursday — we are jazzed to meet him! Goodness500 is a social enterprise that helps people assess the social responsibility of the companies with the most power to change the world. We feel smarter and more equipped to take on the world in a smart, business savvy way when we’re around them.

  3. Third, eventbrite, which is the leading ticket sales site for nonprofit events, gave GIRLS WHO ROCK co-founder Cynthia Hellen the chance to guest blog. Read here! Julia & Kevin Hartz, the founders, feature only a few of the many events on eventbrite.com in the blog, so it was a huge honor for our benefit concert to be chosen. It’s worth your while to watch envisionGood’s video interview with the Hartzs to learn more about their enterprise. It’s like the Google of event ticketing.

Why does all this press matter? Because it brings awareness to how important girls’ education worldwide is and helps generate even more sponsorships! We believe in giving back, helping others break barriers…we spread kindness in our local communities, while also reaching out to our global communities — and so do you, that’s why you’re here! The stamp of approval from Shatterbox, Goodness500, and Eventbrite means we’re doing something right. Keep up the good work. Go team! Way to be a first today. :)
