Tibbetts launched She’s the First (shesthefirst.org), a nonprofit organization that sponsors young women’s educations in eight developing countries, giving them the tools to become the first in their families to graduate from secondary school. “Many of these girls have illiterate parents,” says Tibbetts, who was the first college graduate in her own family. “Together, we’re breaking barriers.”
