This is the question She’s the First asked of people around the world, with a little help from the Internet. More than 8,000 poets (first-time writers and professionals alike) submitted poems, and the ones ultimately printed here express the evolving wisdom, brave vulnerability, and bold ambition that we universally share with girls worldwide, despite the vastly different circumstances into which we are born.
